Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are different because our approach is hyperlocal and personal - we aren’t using algorithms to find the right match for your family. Families are busy, and often the best and only way to look for care is posting in broad message boards, groups, or forums where it’s impossible to get vetted replies. We remove the tedium and bring trusted, reliable care to you.

  • All of our nannies must first review our code of conduct and fill out a form of interest to join the network (this form includes a submission of their CV and at least one letter of recommendation. We will vet their reference(s) and then speak with them personally to gather further information about their experience and care opportunity preferences. All nannies must also be willing to submit to a routine background check before becoming part of our network.

  • Both! We are here to match your family with childcare, from a permanent nanny/long terms situation to childcare/babysitting for a single day or evening.

  • Ideally, we recommend submitting your request for care as soon as you know your plans. Generally 72 hours of advanced notice is helpful since many of our nannies may be contacted about multiple opportunities. We will always do our best within any timeframe, however we unfortunately cannot always guarantee a match.

  • We understand that unexpected and urgent situations can come up. Out of mutual respect, we recommend to our families and nannies to negotiate how to handle a last minute cancellation with regard to compensation as part of your initial conversations around rates/payments. HVNN is only involved in matching you with the nanny and will not get involved in cancellation or compensation conversations.

  • We take pride in our nannies committing fully to the care opportunities they agree to, however unexpected or unavoidable scenarios may come up. HVNN will do our best to have a back-up nanny on standby that you can speak with to determine if they are a suitable match, should your initial match be unavailable.

    If for any reason HVNN cannot match you with a new nanny to accommodate your need due to a nanny in our network canceling, we will fully refund your Care Connection fee.

  • We strive to create and foster a community amongst our nannies to share experiences, best practices, and ask questions. Nannies can also recommend care opportunities to each other where they may see a good fit, especially if there is a scheduling conflict (and assuming the families are open to it).
